This mug was decorated with a carved design and coored with a black glaze before being fired in an electric kiln. Due to the deepness of the carved areas and the angle at which the glaze was sprayed on, the undercut of the design left the piece bare of glaze. The piece was then turned upside down and given a very thin layer of a teal glaze, allowing the piece to have an almost creamy white appearance as well as allowing small hints of blue to appear on the piece.
